This project explored how studio lighting can transform a subject’s identity through control of direction, softness, intensity, colour temperature, and beam pattern. My teammates, Bella, Nicole, Anna, and I experimented with modifiers, including softboxes, diffusers, and reflectors, to test how light sculpts tone and atmosphere.
For my final work, I was asked to create a pair of printed portrait photographs of the same person with two distinctly different representations. I chose an unconventional model — a golden retriever named Remy. Meetings with the model and our studio sessions were very amusing; yet, photographing a dog required adaptability, creative problem-solving, and teamwork to manage the setup, props, and timing. The result was a unique pair of portraits, “Concerned Remy” and “King of the Castle”
